Technology Enabled Care & Wellbeing Approach Vs Traditional Domiciliary Care

By Care2Communities | November 16, 2022 | Technology

While traditional domiciliary care is helpful for people who need extra support with personal care or household tasks, we recognise that not everybody may be at the stage. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t benefit from monitoring, check-in phone calls, or in-person wellbeing visits. After all, loneliness is a common concern amongst older people which is why we want to foster connection and encourage people to integrate into the community as much as possible.

In this blog post, we discuss homecare in Rushcliffe, exploring the difference between our Technology Enabled Care and wellbeing approach versus traditional domiciliary care.

Your wellbeing matters

Our wellbeing approach to care is aimed at improving a person’s overall health and happiness. How do we accomplish this? By combining the use of innovative monitoring technology with personal support, we’ve created a responsive home care service that reduces digital exclusion, promotes social connection, and nourishes overall wellbeing.

Guided by principles of the Five Ways to Wellbeing, some of our goals include:

  • reducing isolation and combating loneliness
  • creating connection and fostering friendships
  • integrating people back in the community if they are isolated or at risk of becoming isolated

Studies show that being part of the community has a positive impact on a person’s wellbeing. Not only does it help reduce anxiety, it reduces the need for paid personal care, as well as the number of hospital admissions and doctor’s appointments needed.

The power of technology

Our use of Technology Enabled Care allows for proactive monitoring which helps us keep people safe without intruding upon their privacy. We use technology to provide peace of mind to family members, which can prevent illness or injury, ensure a faster response in case of emergency, and promote mental health.

So, how does it work? Our Tec2Care device is a small sensor that we install in the kitchen. Don’t worry: your loved one isn’t being watched or listened to. Rather, by focusing on subtle atmospheric and environmental changes, the Tec2Care sensor builds an accurate picture of your loved ones’ habits, such as boiling a kettle, washing up, or opening a window. When something abnormal happens that doesn’t match their typical routine, a Wellbeing Assistant or family member, or both, is alerted. No mains power or internet is required for the device.

Should in-person help be required, our compassionate team of Wellbeing Assistants are always on standby 24/7.

Going above and beyond with our innovative approach

Our innovative approach to care sets us apart from traditional home care providers. We combine assistive technology, the personal touch of Wellbeing Assistants, and support from the local community to create a truly holistic experience that looks after all aspects of a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing. The subscription packages we offer consist of a certain number of wellbeing calls per week, in-person support hours per month, and of course, the use of Technology Enabled Care in a non-intrusive way. As your needs change or evolve, so does the care we provide. This ensures you have the right support wherever you need it.
