Embracing digital in the care sector

By Care2Communities | March 13, 2023 | Technology

The future of care is changing. While it’s a traditional industry, thanks to brilliant advances in technology, the health and social care industries are undergoing a digital transformation. This means that health and social care will be carried out in fundamentally different ways. We are part of that change.

With our Tec2Care Sensor,  we’ve embraced the future of care to promote independent living while providing peace of mind to families. Read on to learn more about how we’re embracing digital in the care sector and how you can too.

A sustainable future through digital

The Government believes that the way to a sustainable future in the care industry is through Technology Enabled Care. Huge progress has already been made. For example, over 28 million people have the NHS app in their pocket. Following years of acquired learning, the goal is to create something faster and more effective, without losing the quality of a personal touch. A future where everyone has healthcare at their fingertips can only be accomplished through digital means. We plan to continue innovating and find new and improved ways to support those who need it, in the home and beyond.

Our digital care network

Through innovating monitoring technology, we’ve created a digital care network that promotes independent living at home without intruding upon a person’s privacy. It’s thanks to our home monitoring system that we can respond quickly in an emergency, identify situations before they escalate, and provide greater peace of mind for family members between visits. How? Our small and unobtrusive sensors can pick up on subtle changes in someone’s wellbeing or habits, ensuring that they’re safe and well between visits.

How does Tec2Care work?

Contrary to what you may initially believe, your Tec2Care device is not spying on you. There are no microphones, cameras, or motion sensors involved. To put it simply: it offers greater privacy than a smartphone or fitness tracker. The discreet device will be installed in your kitchen and gradually build up a picture of your habits over the first 48 hours, such as how often you boil the kettle or when you usually wash up or cook etc. It also uses data points such as the humidity, temperature and atmospheric changes inside the home to gain a better understanding of what’s going on. When changes are detected or something out of the ordinary occurs, alerts are generated to notify a family and/or the care provider to check in or, in extreme cases, contact emergency services.

How does care monitoring benefit you?

Care monitoring provides tech-enabled peace of mind. It helps keep you safe at home by noticing subtle changes in behaviour that could indicate something is wrong. For example, a decrease in activity could signify the onset of an illness. We also promote safety at home by picking up on signs of mould and damp, raising the alarm in cases of extreme heat and detecting the risk of fuel poverty.
